The Tamil Annai Farmer's Association was set up by the seniormost members of Tamil Nadu organic farmers in the year 2024. The association was primarily set up to promote organic farming, lobby with government agencies and departments to pay more attention to sustainable agriculture, and assist farmers using chemicals and pesticides to convert successfully to organic farming methods.

Tamil Annai: The Organic Vanguard

TAFA is currently involved in the marketing of the organic produce and its value added products to support farmers in different districts of Tamil Nadu in India. This is a decentralised districts initiative to have a joint venture between the consumers and the farmers in each district.


TAFA today remains the only membership-based national association of organic farmers, organic farming promoters and green stores. By charter, the President of the association will always be an organic farmer. The association will also strive to ensure gender equality in all its activities. It campaigns actively against the introduction of genetically modified organisms and seeds in India’s agriculture.

Tamil Annai Farmers Association was created for farmers,
by farmers.

In circles, farmers may share their experiences, voice challenges, identify farmer-led solutions, support each other, and form friendships or mentorships. Farmer Circles offer a place to build a supportive community for what farmers need on a regular basis.


The term farmer circle is symbolic of the relationships we aim to establish and maintain, allowing participants to share equally in the conversation in a non-hierarchical format. Farmer Circles meet via Zoom on a monthly basis and are facilitated spaces. Participation is open to all farmers who are organic curious, in transition, or already certified.
